All consultations are by appointment. The receptionist will offer you the next available appointment, but please let her know if the problem is urgent.
Urgent cases will be offered an appointment or a telephone consultation; however this may not be with the doctor of your choice, and may be with a specialist minor illness nurse.
Nurse-led minor illness care - Telephone Triage
When calling to make an appointment for a minor illness, we operate a nurse call-back process known as telephone triage.
Your details will be taken and one of our specialist nurses will call you back to discuss your care.
The nurse can assess whether you need to come to the surgery to see a nurse or a doctor, or whether advice can be given over the telephone. The nurse can provide advice on self care management with over-the-counter medicines, or a prescription.
We have trialled this process over many months and it has proved successful, in that many trips to the surgery have been avoided, and more patients have had access to urgent care each day.
When you call to ask for an appointment please help the receptionists and nurse by giving brief details and your contact number.
Cancelling your appointment
If you cannot keep your appointment, as a matter of courtesy, please let the receptionist know as soon as possible – there is always another patient wanting to take advantage of your cancellation.
When our branch surgery in Bromham is closed the telephone calls are transferred to De Parys Avenue. To avoid any confusion please make the receptionist aware at which surgery you want to make an appointment.
